Keiser Volleyball dropped the regular season finale to Warner by the final score of 3-0 in West Palm Beach, Fla. With the loss, Keiser falls to 21-7 on the season and 8-6 in conference action. Prior to the contest, Keiser honored the five seniors for their work in a Keiser uniform over the years. The Seahawks also recognized
Nikki McKown for breaking the career service ace record with 123 service aces. The Seahawks were led offensively by
Chantelle Zamora's double-double on 10 kills and 12 digs.
Nicole Papineau finished the contest with 27 assists to close out the regular season.
Nikki McKown recorded eight kills in today's contest, becoming the all-time leader in program history in kills with 1,031.
How it Happened
Set One:
The Royals jumped out to a 6-2 advantage early on in the opening set. However, the Seahawks clawed back into the frame, tying the contest at eight apiece. Warner stormed back in front of Keiser, outscoring the Seahawks 7-1, taking a 15-9 advantage to force a Keiser timeout. The Royals held on to a 21-14 lead until Keiser scored three unanswered to close the gap to four. The seven-point deficit was too much to overcome as the Seahawks fell short, 25-22, despite closing the gap to two.
Set Two:
Warner jumped out to another early lead, taking a 7-3 advantage through the first 10 points of the set. The Royals then extended their lead to 11-6, forcing a timeout from Keiser Head Coach
Chris Taylor. The Seahawks scored four unanswered points after the stoppage in play, cutting the deficit to just one. The Royals extended their lead back to five after outscoring Keiser 5-1 over the next six points. Keiser rallied once more to cut the deficit to 17-16, forcing a Warner timeout. The two squads were deadlocked at 18 apiece before the Royals outscored Keiser, 4-1, forcing another Seahawk timeout. Warner held off Keiser to claim the second set, 25-21.
Set Three:
Warner opened up another 6-4 lead through the first 10 points of play in the third set. However, Keiser would not go away, tying the contest at seven apiece. The Seahawks outscored Warner 7-4 to open up their own 14-11 advantage to force a Royals' timeout. Warner tied the set at 15-15 out of the timeout before the Seahawks reclaimed the 16-15 lead. The Royals scored four unanswered points to garner a 19-16 advantage, forcing a Keiser timeout. Keiser closed the gap to two but could not bounce back, falling in the final set 25-20.
