How it Happened
Set One:
The Lions jumped out to the early 6-4 advantage through the set's first 10 points. However, the Keiser offense recorded four unanswered points to take the lead for good, 8-6. Florida Memorial hung close, eyeing a four-point deficit midway through the opening set. After the Lions trimmed the gap to 22-19, the Seahawks finished off the set by scoring three consecutive points to claim the opening frame, 25-19.
Set Two:
Keiser opened up the second set on a dominating 10-1 run and never looked back, earning a second consecutive 25-19 victory. The Lions were unable to overcome the early deficit as the Seahawks stretched the lead to 15-5. Keiser then opened up the lead to a set-high 13 points, 22-9, before Florida Memorial went on a 10-2 spurt to trim the Seahawk lead to five. Keiser scored the final point of a McKown kill, clinching the second set for the visiting squad.
Set Three:
The Lions scored the first five points of the final set, but could not hang on as the Seahawks surged ahead to win the set, 25-18. Florida Memorial stretched its lead to 9-3 before the Seahawks outscored the Lions 10-3 to claim their first lead of the frame, 13-12. The two squads traded blows, knotting the contest at 15 apiece. Down the stretch, the Seahawks clung to a 19-18 advantage, before scoring six unanswered points to win the set and match.
