Keiser Volleyball dropped a three-set match to the Southeastern Fire this afternoon in Lakeland, Fla. With the loss, Keiser falls to 19-6 overall, including 6-5 in conference action. Keiser was led by
Chantelle Zamora, recording a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs.
Veera Hietala finished second in kills with nine, while
Nikki McKown finished second on the squad in digs with 11.
Nicole Papineau led the way in assists with 24 overall.

How it Happened
Set One:
Keiser fell in the opening set by the final score of 25-18 to fall behind by one. The two squads were knotted at 6-6 before the Fire jumped out to a three-point spurt to take the lead for good. The Seahawks pulled to within two but Southeastern kept the visiting squad at bay after stretching its lead to six. Keiser could pull no closer over the final stretch as the Fire maintained the momentum to claim the first set in the seven-point victory.

Set Two:
Southeastern jumped out to a large lead in the second set, taking a 10-2 advantage early on. Keiser scored five unanswered points to close the gap to three, but could not overcome the early deficit as Southeastern continued to pull away. The Fire outscored the Seahawks 5-1 over the next six points to stretch their lead back to seven, 15-8. Southeastern stretched is lead to a set-high eight points on different occasions en route to the 25-19 victory.

Set Three:
Keiser and Southeastern were deadlocked at seven apiece through the first 14 points of the final frame before the Fire scored three unanswered to take a 10-7 advantage. The Fire then outscored the visiting Seahawks 5-2 to take a 15-9 lead midway through the third set. Keiser closed the gap to three but could not pull any closer as the Fire won 25-18 to complete the sweep.

Keiser returns to action on Tuesday when the Seahawks travel to Ave Maria, Fla., to take on the Ave Maria Gyrenes. The opening serve is slated to begin at 7 p.m. The Seahawks swept the Gyrenes on Oct. 15 earlier this season.
