How it Happened
Set One:
The Seahawks came out of the gates hitting on all cylinders through the first 10 points of the set, taking a 7-3 lead following kills by
Nikki McKown,
Chantelle Zamora and
Samantha Thompson. Keiser stretched its lead to 9-3 before the Warriors fought back to tie the contest at 13 apiece. Webber took its first lead on the very next point but the Seahawks tied the contest at 14-14 following a kill from McKown. Keiser reclaimed the lead following a Webber timeout, clinging to an 18-16 advantage. The Seahawks forced another timeout after
Megan Minke's kill made in 20-17 in favor of the home squad. Webber claimed the late 21-20 lead after four consecutive points after the stoppage in play. Keiser then regained the lead late in the frame, 24-23, following three consecutive points before Webber tied the set at 24 to force extra points. The two squads traded the next four points until a kill by Thompson and an attacking error by Katie Schueman of Webber sealed the first set, 28-26, in favor of the Seahawks.
Â
Set Two:
The Warriors jumped ahead early in the second set claiming a 7-3 advantage of their own. Webber did not let off the gas, maintaining its four-point advantage for the remainder of the set. The Warriors later stretched their lead to 17-9, forcing a Keiser timeout. With the Seahawks trailing 20-12, Keiser began to claw back into the set after scoring three unanswered points and forcing a Webber timeout. The Warriors scored the first three points following the timeout en route to the 25-16 victory, forcing a guaranteed fourth set.
Â
Set Three:
The two squads were neck-and-neck through the first 10 points as Webber clung to a narrow 6-4 advantage. The Warriors stretched their lead to five before the Seahawks soared back to cut the deficit to 11-9. Webber and Keiser would go back-and-forth between the five-point and three-point Warrior advantages until the Seahawks trimmed the deficit to 16-14 midway through the set. Webber scored four unanswered points to extend its lead to six, 20-14. Once again the Seahawks trimmed the gap to three after claiming three unanswered points to force a Warrior timeout.
