The Keiser University women's basketball team returned to Sun Conference play with a 56-51 setback to Johnson & Wales on Thursday evening. The Seahawks moved to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
How it Happened- Jamilla Banks Wall scored six of the first eight Keiser points helping them jump out to an 8-4 lead with 5:40 showing in the first.
- The Wildcats took their first lead of 14-13 with 1:59 but the Seahawks quickly regained a 17-16 lead at the end of the quarter.
- Keiser's defense limited JWU to just eight points in the second quarter for a 28-24 lead and then the Wildcats limited the Seahawks to eight points in the third tying the game at 36-36.
- The Seahawks trailed 47-39 at the 5:54 mark when a pair of free throws by Claudia Reque started a 7-0 run capped by Desirai Smith layup getting to within 47-46 with 2:59 to go. However, Johnson & Wales held off the Seahawks down the stretch winning 56-51.
