The #9 Keiser University men's basketball team fell short against receiving votes Johnson & Wales 87-73 on Thursday evening. The Seahawks fell to 20-3 overall and 8-2 in Sun Conference play.
How it Happened - Johnson & Wales jumped out to a 7-2 lead before baskets by Deion McClenton and Stanley Whittaker knotted the game 7-7 with 15:07 left in the first.
- The Wildcats quickly regained the advantage and continued to build on it, taking a 41-23 lead into the break.
- The Seahawks went down by as many as 31 at 58-27 with 12:40 showing. Keiser got to within 64-37 with 8:46 showing, when they went to an intentional foul strategy for the remainder of the contest. Â
- In that time, Keiser outscored the Wildcats 36-23 getting as close as 80-69 with 1:04 to go but Johnson & Wales went on to win 87-73.
Inside the Box8: McClenton pulled down a team high eight rebounds.
18: The Keiser defense forced JWU into turnover and had nine steals.
30: Weaver scored a game high on 8-18 shooting from the field and 11-15 from the free throw line.
