The Keiser University women's basketball team held on to defeat Webber International 65-62 in Sun Conference play on Monday evening.
Chablis Morant picked up her first career game winning shot with ten seconds remaining in regulation.
How it Happened - After falling behind 4-0, Claudia Reque connected on a three pointer, sparking an 8-0 run to gain an 8-4 advantage with 6:10 showing in the first. Both teams traded baskets with Miah Shephard hitting a three at the buzzer for a 20-18 lead.
- With the score 25-22 Keiser, with 6:24 in the second, a Jamilla Banks Wall layup helped close the quarter on a 13-4 run, taking a 38-26 advantage into the half.
- Webber International came all the back to tie it at 44-44 at the 4:24 mark, when four straight points by Desirai Smith helped the Seahawks take a 48-46 lead into the final quarter.
- The Warriors climbed to within 54-52, but two free throws by Reque sparked a 6-0 run pushing back out to a 60-52 advantage with 1:49 to play. Webber answered with a 9-1 run knotting the game at 61-61 with 22.4 seconds left.
- A Morant jumper from the right side came with 10 seconds left, giving Keiser a 63-62 lead. However, Webber split their free throws making it 63-62, with four seconds to go. Reque then made two huge free throws to seal the 65-62 victory.
Inside the Box4: Players in double figures led by Murphy and Shephard with 12, Reque and Smith had ten apiece.
