The Keiser University women's basketball team defeated Florida Memorial 59-44 on Thursday evening in their Sun Conference home opener. The Seahawks moved to 10-9 overall and 3-3 in Sun Conference play.
How it Happened- Keiser trailed 4-3, when Courtney Murphy scored four of the next six points helping the Seahawks retake a 9-4 advantage with 5:44 to go in the first.
- After the Lions knotted it at 9-9, both teams exchanged two three pointers, but a Jamilla Banks Wall layup gave Keiser a 17-15 lead heading into the second.
- With the score tied at 17-17, a Dominique Winbush basket sparked a 12-1 run upping the advantage to 29-18 at 3:42 mark.
- Keiser held Florida Memorial without a field goal for the first eight minutes. The Seahawks went on to take a 35-24 lead at halftime.
- Keiser outscored the Lions 12-4 in the third quarter, while using an 8-0 run over the final 4:27, taking a 47-28 lead going into the fourth quarter.
- After the Lions scored the first bucket, Keiser answered with a 9-3 run for their largest lead of the game at 55-33 with 3:39 remaining. The Seahawks went on to win the game by a final of 59-44.
