The Keiser University volleyball team sailed past Johnson University-Florida 3-0 on Thursday evening. The Seahawks improved to 9-2 overall on the year with the victory.
Set OneWith the score tied 2-2, the Seahawks used a 5-0 run behind three service aces of
Megan Minke taking a 7-2 advantage. After a Suns point, a pair of kills by
Chantelle Zamora and one by Gida Victor pushed the lead out to 12-4. Later in the set, Keiser used a 6-0 run started by a service error and capped by a Minke kill extending the lead to 18-6. The Seahawks continued rolling taking the set by a final of 25-11.
Set TwoJohnson scored the first point but Keiser responded with three straight points, and extended their lead to 8-3. After some back and forth, five straight Sun's miscues helped Keiser take their largest lead of the set at 18-7. Johnson closed to seven at 22-15 when a
Patricia Costa kill helped close out the set on a 3-0 run winning 25-15.
Set ThreeKeiser jumped out to a 4-1 advantage when Johnson continued chipping away getting to within 9-7. A pair of kills by Minke, one by
Veera Hietala, and an error pushed the lead back out to 13-7. The Suns got to within 21-17 but the Seahawks held them off winning 25-19 and taking the match 3-0.
Offense/Defense The team had 14 aces and 31 kills on the evening. Minke led the way with ten kills and seven aces, while Gida Victor had five kills and two blocks.
Nicole Papineau passed for 15 assists and
Miranda Jickell had 11.
Morgan Leff had ten digs on the night.
Coaches Corner"This was a good match for us to get everyone involved and experience on the court. Our level of play and how we want to play didn't change when we made changes with our personal. This shows how hard our girls have been practicing this year," said Head Coach

Next Up:The Seahawks return to the court next Tuesday traveling to Florida National. The match starts at 7:00 p.m.
