The Seahawks volleyball team swept Webber International 3-0 for their first Sun Conference victory of the year on Saturday afternoon.
Set One Keiser jumped out to a 6-1 lead highlighted by a pair of
Megan Minke kills. Webber cut it to 6-3, when a service error began a 6-1 run capped by a
Nikki McKown kill making it 12-4. The Seahawks continued cruising pulling away with a 25-13 win.
Set TwoA back and forth beginning with four ties before Webber took a 9-6 lead but Keiser responded knotting it at 9-9. With the score tied 11-11, a pair of errors and a McKown kill put Keiser back in front 14-11. The Warriors cut it to 16-15, when a McKown kill started a 5-0 run stretching the advantage to 21-15. Keiser went on to win 25-19.
Set ThreeKeiser took a 7-3 lead when Webber scored the next two points getting the within 7-5. Leading 11-7, a service error began a 5-2 run capped by a McKown kill pushing the lead to 16-9. Webber got to within 18-15 when a
Chantelle Zamora kill started a 4-0 run capped by a
Morgan Leff service ace extending the lead to 22-15. The Seahawks went on to win 25-19 and sweep the match 3-0.
Offense/DefenseMcKown led the way with 13 kills and one service ace. Minke had five blocks and six kills, while
Nicole Papineau had 33 assists. Zamora had 14 digs and Leff with seven.
Up NextWith the win, Keiser improves to 13-4 overall and 1-1 in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks return to action on Friday welcoming St. Thomas for a 7:00 p.m. match. Â
