The Keiser University volleyball team fell to St. Thomas 3-0 at home on Friday evening in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks fall to 13-5 overall, and 1-2 in Sun Conference play.
Set OneSt. Thomas jumped out 7-2, but Keiser continued chipping away getting to within 11-7. A
Megan Minke kill followed starting a 5-1 run capped by a
Nikki McKown kill tying it at 12-12.However, the Bobcats regrouped and went on to take the set 25-20.
Set TwoThe Bobcats led 6-2, but the Seahawks kept it close until falling behind 15-7. A
Chantelle Zamora kill began a 5-1 run getting to within 16-12. Again, St. Thomas regained control going on to win 25-16.
Set ThreeThe set started with four ties and one lead change with neither team going in front by more than a point when St. Thomas pushed out to an 8-6 advantage. However, a
Nicole Papineau kill and a bad set tied the set at 8-8. From this point, there were ten ties and three lead changes with no team going up by more than a point with the final tie being 18-18. St. Thomas however, went on to win the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Offense/DefenseMinke led the way with eight kills and three blocks. Papineau had 30 assists, while Zamora had 13 digs and
Morgan Leff with 12.
