Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Warner in TSC Opener

The Keiser University volleyball team fell to Warner University 3-1 on Friday evening in their Sun Conference opener. Warner won the first set before the Seahawks won the second but the Royals won the final two sets.

Set One
A tight beginning with four ties and three lead changes when Warner pushed out to a 9-6 lead. A pair of Megan Minke kills started and ended a 3-0 run retying it at 9-9. However, the Royals used a 7-0 run taking a 16-9 lead and did not allow Keiser any closer than five points going on to win 25-19.
Set Two
Warner led 5-4 when a Nikki McKown kill began a 5-1 run capped by a pair of Chantelle Zamora kills retaking a 9-6 advantage. Warner fought back knotting it at 11-11 but three straight errors gave the Seahawks a 14-11 lead.  After another error, a McKown service ace began a 5-1 run giving Keiser their largest lead of 19-13. Warner got to within one twice at 21-20, and 22-21 but the Seahawks scored the final three points winning 25-21.
Set Three
Six ties and three lead changes began the set with the final tie being 7-7, when Warner went ahead 10-7. Keiser was unable to get any closer than three during the remainder of the set falling 25-18.
Set Four
The Royals led 8-3 when a kill by McKown started and ended a 5-1 run cutting the deficit to 9-8. The Seahawks got to within 11-10 but Warner outscored Keiser 9-2 taking a 20-12 lead. Keiser could not rebound falling 25-17.

Offense/Defense
McKown led the way with 16 kills, three service aces and four blocks. Nicole Papineau had 39 assists while Morgan Leff had 16 digs.

Up Next
With the setback, Keiser falls to 12-4 overall and 0-1 in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks will look to rebound tomorrow at 2:00 against Webber International.
