#1 seed Northwood baseball team dropped a tough one to #6 seed Thomas 3-1 on Friday afternoon in the Sun Conference opening round game.
A classic pitcher's duel was occurring until Northwood broke the deadlock in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Casey Mullennix scoring Luis Roman. Thomas responded in the eighth inning with a run knotting the game at 1-1. The Night Hawks pushed two runs across in the ninth winning the game 3-1.
Mullennix led the way with two hits, while Gabby Mundo, and Joee Reyna had the others.
Cody Gray went eight innings, striking out 11 batters while not allowing any walks.
The Seahawks look to avoid elimination tomorrow when they face the loser of Embry-Riddle and South Carolina Beaufort. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
