#3 Baseball Suffer Setback to St. Thomas

The #3 baseball team fell to St. Thomas on Saturday in a doubleheader. The Seahawks fell in game one 4-2 and 9-4 in game two.

Game One

St. Thomas platted a run in the first and the seventh taking a 2-0 lead before Northwood tied it in the eighth inning. Luis Roman tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a Tyler Goff pinch hit single. Casey Mullennix then knotted the game at 2-2 on an RBI bunt. However, the Bobcats answered in the bottom half with two runs winning the game 4-2.

Carlos Contreras and Roman led the way with two hits apiece. Alan Carey went seven innings striking out four.

Game Two

The Bobcats pushed three runs across in the first, but a solo homer by Joee Reyna got the Seahawks on the board trailing 3-1. St.  Thomas answered scoring three in the second and three in the fourth taking a 9-1 lead when Brandon Crawford hit a solo homer in the seventh making it 9-2. Northwood got two more runs in the eighth on a fielder's choice by Nick Black but got no closer falling 9-4.

Reyna led the way with two hits. Patrick Barrington went six innings in relief.

With the setback, the Seahawks fall to 39-10 overall and finish conference play at 22-5 overall. Northwood concludes their regular season on Tuesday at home welcoming St. Thomas. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
