The #3 Northwood baseball team came from behind to defeat NCAA Division 2 Eckerd 9-6 on Tuesday evening.
Eckerd platted a run in the first and five in the third for a 6-0 lead before a wild pitch scored Casey Mullennix in the fourth making it 6-1. Back to back three run innings in the fifth and sixth gave Northwood their first lead of the night.
Gabby Mundo led off with a solo homer to right field, and a two run homer to left by Keivan Berges cut the deficit to 6-4. In the sixth, an RBI single by Andrew Danner made it 6-5, and then a balk and wild pitch gave the Seahawks a 7-6 advantage. Mundo upped the lead in the eighth to 8-6 with an RBI single through the left side. Luis Roman doubled to right field in the ninth winning the game 9-6.
Mundo led the way at the plate with four hits, while four different Seahawk batters recorded two hits apiece. Weston Wuthrich picked up the win going 4.2 innings in relief and Andres Caraveo recorded the save.
With the win, Northwood improves to 38-8 overall on the year. The Seahawk head to St. Thomas on Friday for a three game series starting at 6:00 p.m.
