Baseball Suffer 9-2 Setback to #23 Tennessee Wesleyan

The Northwood baseball team lost to #23 Tennessee Wesleyan 9-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Embry-Riddle. With the setback, the Seahawks see their ten game winning streak come to an end.

Tennessee Wesleyan struck with a run in the first, third, and four in the fourth making it 6-0. The Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the fifth for the 8-0 lead, before the Seahawks pushed two runs across in the sixth. A sacrifice fly to center by Luis Roman got the first run and a double to left center by Brandon Crawford made it 8-2. However, the Bulldogs went on to win the game 9-2.

Carlos Contreras led the way at the plate with three hits, while Keivan Berges, Ryan Palenzuela and Crawford had two hits apiece.

Head Coach Jeremy Kennedy on the game, "I have to give Tennessee Wesleyan a lot of credit today, they came out and swung the bats as good as we have seen all year. They straight up beat us up today. I felt like maybe we were a little to impressed with ourselves after last weekend and they humbled us really quick. Now we will see how we can bounce back from adversity. They are a well-coached team and they executed way better than we did today.

The Seahawks return to the field on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Lynn University for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
