The Northwood baseball team completed the three game sweep over Webber on Sunday winning 8- 4. The Seahawks improve to 13-5 overall and 7-2 in Sun Conference play.
Northwood got on the board in the first on a wild pickoff, but Webber tied it with a run of their own in the bottom half at 1-1. However, the Seahawks regained the lead in the second inning pushing three runs across.
Casey Mullennix walked and moved to third on a Luis Roman double. Brandon Crawford followed with an RBI single and a Mason Mullen sacrifice fly to center made it 3-1. The final run of the inning came off a Nick Black single pushing the advantage to 4-1. Crawford tacked on his second RBI of the day in the third with a single platting Mullennix making it 5-1.
In the fourth, Gabby Mundo singled and stole second allowing a Carlos Contreras double to score him extending the lead to 6-1. The Warriors got a run back in the fourth, but a Contreras RBI single in the eighth made it 7-2. A Webber homer in the eighth made it 7-3; however a Roman RBI groundout gave Northwood an 8-3 advantage. Webber tacked on another run in the ninth but fell in the game 8-4.
The Seahawks stole six bases on the day led by Mullennix's two. Crawford led the way at the plate with three hits, while Contreras and Keivan Berges had two hits apiece. Alan Carey picked up his third win of the year pitching four innings, and Jonathan Clarke racked up his first save.
"We played well all weekend and really starting to swing the bat, said Head Coach Jeremy Kennedy. Pitching was quality all weekend. Casey had a big weekend at the place, nice to see his hard work paying off. Got another busy week of games and an opportunity to keep moving in the right direction. "
Northwood has a quick turnaround coming back tomorrow at home against Marygrove College. The game is set for 2:00 p.m.
