The Northwood women's basketball team lost to St. Thomas 64-52 on Wednesday evening. The Seahawks fall to 4-16 overall and 3-8 in Sun Conference play.
St. Thomas took an early 14-4 lead when Dana Gildea scored five straight baskets cutting the deficit to 14-9 with 14:21 remaining in the half. The Bobcats then pushed out to a 21-9 margin when Lakeisha Blanson hit a three starting an 8-2 run making it 23-17 with 11:33 to go. However, Northwood went into the half trailing 39-28.
The Seahawks came out strong scoring the first four points trimming it to 39-32. With the score 51-36 Bobcats, a Mallory Burton jumper led to a 11-4 run getting to within 57-50 with 2:46 left in regulation. In the end, St. Thomas held on for a 64-52 win.
Gildea led the way with 15 points, while Blanson chipped in 11. Gildea had a team high six rebounds, and Stephanie Granada had three assists.
The Seahawks return to the court on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Southeastern. The game is set for 1:00 p.m.
