The Seahawks baseball team defeated Webber International 8-2 in game two of a three game set on Saturday afternoon. The third game was postponed due to weather and will be made up tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
The Warriors got on the board first with a run in the first inning when Northwood retook a 2-1 lead in the third. Casey Mullenix walked and scored on a triple by Brandon Crawford tying it at 1-1. Gabby Mundo followed with a single gaining a 2-1 lead, however Webber knotted it at 2-2 in the bottom half.
A solo homer by Mullenix and two run shot by Carlos Contreras pushed Northwood back in front 5-2. Luis Roman continued the home run trend with a two run shot in eighth making it 7-2. Keivan Berges tacked on the final run of the game on an RBI single scoring Jesus Fuenmayor winning the game 8-2.
Both teams had seven hits apiece, with seven different batters recording a hit. Steven Bruce improved his record to 4-0 pitching seven innings striking out five hitters.
"Steven did a good job of hanging in without his best stuff, said Head Coach Jeremy Kennedy. He settled in late and started throwing better, it was good to see him work through that today. We swung the bats well today and Casey had a nice couple games at the plate."
Northwood improves to 12-5 overall, and 6-2 in Sun Conference play with the victory today.
