The Keiser University women's basketball team sailed past Cairn University 85-31 to close out the New Year on Thursday afternoon.
Courtney Murphy scored a game high 31 points, which matched the point total of the Highlanders on 12-15 shooting and 7-10 from beyond the arc.
How it Happened- The Seahawks got off to a scorching start scoring the game's first ten points highlighted by three pointers from Desirai Smith and Claudia Reque.
- Cairn answered back with a 7-0 run getting to within 10-7, but Keiser closed out the quarter on an 11-0 run to lead 21-7.
- The second quarter opened with the Seahawks using a 14-2 run, extending their lead to 35-9 with 4:34 showing. Keiser went on to hold a 45-11 advantage at the half, while keeping the Highlanders in single digits during the first 16 minutes of the game.
- After the intermission, it was the same tune in a different quarter with the Seahawks outscoring Cairn 19-10 pushing their advantage to 64-21 and then continued cruising in the fourth quarter 21-10 winning 85-31.
Inside the Box- Dominique Winbush finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds with nine offensive and eight defensive.
- Jamilla Banks Wall finished with 14 rebounds and five blocks to go along with two steals.
- Smith recorded 17 points and chipped in eight assists.
- Reque also reached double digit scoring with 11 points.
- Keiser forced 27 turnovers on the night, with 20 steals and nine blocks.
