Women's Basketball Beats #19 Dickinson State 70-67

The Seahawks women's basketball team took down #19 Dickinson State 70-67 on Saturday afternoon. Keiser University moved to 6-5 overall on the season and have now defeated three NAIA top 25 teams.

How it Happened
  • Tied at 4-4, a Claudia Reque three pointer sparked a 12-3 run capped by a Courtney Murphy three pointer to lead 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Dickinson State got to within 18-15, when a Murphy three started a 12-1 run ended on a Reque three pointer extending their advantage to 30-16 with 3:55 showing in the second. The Seahawks went into the break in front 34-27.
  • In the third with the score 41-33 Keiser, an Alasjia Dykes jumper began a 9-3 run capped by a Murphy three pointer upping the margin to 50-36 at the 2:19 mark.
  • Keiser took their largest lead of the game of 60-44 with 9:07 remaining in the fourth, when the Blue Hawks came all the way back to within 68-67 with 1:40 to go in regulation.
  • The Seahawks stepped up their defense and two clutch free throws by Reque with 25 seconds left lifted Keiser to the win.

3: Murphy scored a game high 25 points to lead in double figures along with Reque (18), and Desirai Smith (11).
12: The Seahawks from beyond the arc on the afternoon on 22 attempts. Murphy connected on seven.
19: Forced Dickinson State turnovers while picking up 10 steals.

Head Coach Pam Oswald, "Today I feel that our players truly battled throughout the entire game. We just didn't let up our energy level whether the ball was going in the hoop or not. I felt that we had players really step up in key moments to help us capture this win."
