#22 Men's Basketball Hold Off Edward Waters 76-70

The #22 Keiser University men's basketball team held on against Edward Waters, winning 76-70 in the Chuck Daly Memorial Tournament. With the win, the Seahawks are now 9-0, which is best start in school history.

How it Happened
  • Brice Jenkins scored the game's first five points helping Keiser jump out to a 7-2 lead before the Tigers tied it at 7-7 with 17:50 showing.
  • The Seahawks led 15-12, when a Jenkins jumper started a 9-3 run capped by a Tyrus Weaver layup for their largest lead of the half at 23-15 with 9:19 to go.
  • Edward Waters got to within one on two occasions (35-34, 37-36) down the stretch before knotting it at 39-39 at the break.
  • The Tigers took their first lead of the game at 44-41 and stretched it to their largest of 49-45, when a pair of Deion McClenton free throws started a 5-0 run, regaining a 50-49 advantage with 14:11 remaining.
  • Edward Waters went back in front 53-50, but a Stanley Whittaker jumper sparked a 9-0 run to put Keiser up 59-53 with 11:28 left in the contest.
  • Again the Tigers led by three at 64-61, when the Seahawks used their second straight 9-0 run to go back in front 70-64 with 4:04 remaining.
  • Keiser held a 72-70 advantage with 22 seconds left and used clutch free throws by Weaver and Whittaker to seal the 76-70 win.

3: Whittaker (21), McClenton (17), and Jenkins (14) each recorded double digit scoring.

Bethel vs. Warner
In the opening game of the day, #13 Warner defeated #7 Bethel 90-87.
