The Keiser University volleyball team came from behind in a thriller winning 3-2 against Southeastern University on Friday evening. The Seahawks improved to 21-10 overall and 6-5 in Conference Play.
Record BreakingNicole Papineau was honored before the game for setting the school record for the most career assists with 472 against Webber International.
What OccurredSoutheastern won the first two sets 25-17 before the Seahawks got going. Facing defeat, Keiser was victorious in the third 25-23 and then won a hard fought fourth set win in which the Seahawks won the last three points after the match was tied 22-22.
In the deciding set, the score was tied 2-2 when a
Kelsie Kopicki kill began a 5-0 run going in front 7-2. The Fire battled back tying it at 12-12 and again at 13-13, but a
Nikki McKown kill and an attack error sealed the victory for Keiser 16-14.
Inside the BoxMegan Minke (15), McKown (15),
Chantelle Zamora (14), and Kopicki (10) all recorded double digit kills.
Minke and
Ashley Marvel each had two service aces.
Kopicki had four blocks, while Minke and Victor had three apiece.
Papineau passed for 48 assists, while marvel had 18 digs.
