The #10 Keiser University women's soccer team fought through an hour weather delay to win a 3-2 thriller over Reinhardt University on Saturday afternoon in the NAIA Opening Round game. The Seahawks now advance to Orange Beach, Alabama for their second round game.
Keiser got on the board in the 14th minute when
Ebba Blomqvist played a great through ball to
Johanna Engberg who beat the keeper making it 1-0. Reinhardt grabbed the equalizer in the 38th minute on a Megan McCall goal making it 1-1 at the half.
The game reached the 60th minute when the contest went into an hour delay due to lightning. Both teams played tough defense after getting back on the field until the Eagles broke through in the 81st minute on McCalls second goal of the game.
Three minutes later,
Linnea Lindmark scored when Blomqvist played a long free kick into the box tying it at 2-2.
Olivia White then won the game in the 88th minute after kicking the ball in on scramble in the box off a corner kick by Lindmark winning 3-2.
Keiser held a 20-4 advantage on shots, with a 6-2 edge on shots on goal.
Amanda Blixt led the way with six shots, while Blomqvist had four and Lindmark with three.
With the win, the Seahawks improved to 16-2-1 overall. Keiser will take on #7 Martin Methodist on Tuesday, December 1st.Â
