The #10 Keiser University women's soccer team fell in double overtime to #7 Martin Methodist 4-3 in the NAIA second round. The Seahawks conclude their season with a 16-3-1 overall record.
Martin Methodist jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals in the 3rd and 27th minutes. Keiser cut into the deficit in the 30th minute when
Johanna Engberg crossed the ball into the middle of the box and
Sara Lundberg one timed it into the back of the net, making it 2-1. The score stood going into the break.
The Redhawks extended their advantage to 3-1 in the 79th minute before Keiser scored two goals in the next three minutes. Engberg notched an unassisted goal in the 80th minute on a loose ball in the box off a corner kick.
Sofia Kristensson tied it at 3-3 when she blasted the ball top shelf from 20 yards out off an assist by
Amanda Blixt.
Both teams locked down during the first overtime before Martin Methodist scored the eventual game winner in the 105th minute making it 4-3.
Keiser outshot Martin Methodist 20-16 and 9-6 with shots on goal. Blixt led the way with five shots on the day while Lundberg had four.
