The #9 Keiser University women's soccer team held off RV St. Thomas 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks improved to 11-2-1 overall and 7-1 in TSC play.
Linnea Lindmark had an early scoring opportunity in the second minute but her shot was saved. A
Karolina Broman header in the 16th minute off a corner was saved keeping the game scoreless. The Bobcats had their best opportunity in the 38th minute but
Felicia Sedell made a huge save going into the break deadlocked.
In the new half,
Johanna Engberg played an excellent cross from the right side finding
Louise Andersson for a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute. However, the Bobcats tied the game at 1-1 in the 57th minute, but Keiser regained the lead four minutes later. This time, Engberg was on the receiving end of a cross from Anderrson going back up 2-1.
In the 76th,
Ebba Blomqvist converted on a penalty extending the advantage to 3-1. St. Thomas would not go way scoring a goal in 89th minute but got no closer falling 3-2.
Keiser held a 14-8 advantage on shots, led by Engberg with five and Andersson with four. Sedell made four saves in goal.
The Seahawks are back in action Saturday at home for senior day against Florida Memorial. The kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
