The Keiser University volleyball team tied the school record for the most wins in a year with their 3-0 sweep of Johnson University on Thursday evening. The Seahawks are now 18-7 overall matching the most wins set in 2007.
Set OneKeiser led 4-2, when a
Nikki McKown kill began and ended an 8-0 run extending their lead to 12-2. The Suns scored the next four points, but a McKown kill started a 6-0 run pushing out to an 18-6 advantage. After Johnson scored the next point, a
Chantelle Zamora kill closed out the set on a 7-0 run capped by a
Morgan Leff service ace winning 25-7.
Set TwoJohnson led 2-1, when a
Julie Law kill started a 14-0 run highlighted by four
Veera Hietala kills and three by
Megan Minke retaking a 15-2 lead. After a Johnson point, four straight points by Minke including three service aces and one kill gave the Seahawks a 19-4 lead. Keiser continued cruising going on to win 25-10.
Set ThreeWith the score tied at 3-3, a Hietala kill began an 8-1 run capped by a
Patricia Costa kill going in front 11-4. Keiser never looked back from here going on to win 25-14.
Offense/DefenseMinke led the way in kills with ten, blocks with five, and service aces at five.
Nicole Papineau passed for 19 assists, while
Miranda Jickell had 18.
Up NextKeiser travels to Southeastern on Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
