The Keiser University volleyball team won two of their three matches on Saturday in the Hyatt Place Hardwood Challenge. The Seahawks defeated Florida College, before falling to Point Park and then taking down Trinity to end the night.
Match 1 vs. Florida CollegeThe Seahawks won the first set 25-20, before winning a hard fought second 28-26. Florida College took the third set 25-16, but Keiser rebounded in the fourth coming away with the 25-16 victory.
Inside the Box Score4: In the first set, Florida College led 13-9, when Keiser used a 4-0 run tying it at 13-13.
5: The Falcons led 18-17 in the first set, when Keiser used a 5-0 run taking their first lead of 22-18.
6: The Seahawks trailed 18-12 in set two, when they used a 6-1 run getting to within 19-18
13: Keiser trailed 14-11 in the fourth set when they use a 13-2 run to go in front 23-16.
Offense/DefenseNikki McKown led the way with 15 kills, while
Megan Minke had 13.
Nicole Papineau had 37 assists, while
Morgan Leff had 17 digs. Gida Victor led the defense with one solo block and two assisted.
Match 2 vs. Point Park UniversityPoint Park won the first set 25-17 before Keiser rebounded in the second with a 25-22 win. However, the Pioneers went on to take the next two sets 25-19, and 25-20.
Inside the Box Score4: With the score tied at 21 in the second set, the Seahawks closed on a 4-1 run to win 25-22.
7: Trailing 16-14 in the second set, Keiser used a 7-0 run taking their first lead at 20-16.
Offense/DefenseMcKown led the way with ten kills, while Victor had nine.
Ashley Marvel had four service aces. Papineau had 32 assists, while Leff had 15 digs.
Match 3 vs. Trinity CollegeKeiser University swept the match winning 25-22, 25-19, and 25-18.
Inside the Box6: Leading 7-3, Stuive served the next six points in the second set putting Keiser ahead 13-3.
10: The Seahawks trailed 9-6 in the third, when Stuive and Veera Hietalla started a 10-1 run going in front 16-10.
Offense/DefenseChantelle Zamora led the way with 11 kills, while Minke had nine.
Morgan Stuive had two service aces. Papineau passed for 32 assists, while Zamora had 13 digs.

Coming UpThe Seahawks improve to 16-7 overall on the year. Keiser returns to Sun Conference play on Wednesday evening when they travel to Ave Maria for a 7:00 p.m. match.
