WEST PALM BEACH, Fl.--- The Northwood men's basketball team upended Florida Memorial 69-54 in Sun Conference play on Saturday evening. The Seahawks improve to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
The Seahawks started fast jumping out to a 15-4 lead before Florida Memorial trimmed it to 15-10 with 9:32 showing on the clock. Northwood answered right back using a 10-0 run started by a Chris Lee jumper and capped by a Chris Solomon basket making it 25-10 with 6:20 to go in the half. The Seahawks doubled up their opponents 32-16 heading into the locker room.
In the second half, with the score 38-21, an Andrija Sarenac three pointer started a 6-2 run pushing the lead out to 44-23 with 13:30 left in the game. Later in the half, the Seahawks used a 7-0 run taking a 61-34 lead at the 7:27 mark and never looking back winning 69-54.
Solomon led the way in scoring and assists with 14 and six. Deion McClenton contributed 13 points in just his second game of his career, while Sarenac had 11 in his first career start. Danny Nieman also had six assists and Fred Mattison with nine rebounds.
The Seahawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on #2 Embry-Riddle. The game is set for 7:30 p.m.
