THOMASVILLE, Ga.---The Seahawks men's basketball team falls to Thomas on the road 87-73 in Sun Conference play. Northwood goes to 11-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Thomas jumped out to a quick 18-7 lead when an Ian Umpierre layup started an 11-0 run capped off by a Kevin McDuffie three pointer tying the game at 18-18 with 10:23 left in the half. The Night Hawks regained a 24-20 lead but a Danny Nieman three pointer cut it to 24-23 with 5:29 to go. Northwood got to within two at 30-28 with 1:35 but went into the break trailing 40-31.
In the new half, the Seahawks got to within 42-35, before Thomas pushed back out to a 59-47 lead with 10:47 left in regulation. Trailing 75-57, Northwood used a 13-6 run trimming the margin to 81-70 with 1:52 to go. The Night Hawks held on in the end winning by a final of 87-73.
Chris Solomon led the way with 15 points, while Marcus Hardy had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Fred Mattison contributed 11 points and Nieman had four assists.
Northwood returns home for their next game on Saturday when they take on Florida Memorial. The game is set for 4:00 p.m.
