ORANGE BEACH, AL.---The Seahawk women's soccer team will make their second straight final four appearance on Friday after a 1-0 win over Martin Methodist. Northwood will face #6 seed Lindsey Wilson at 3:30 p.m. eastern time in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Northwood got on the board first in the 23rd minute when Hanna Lindstorm headed in a corner by Amy Vaughan taking the early 1-0 lead. Vaughan had a chance to extend the lead in the 32nd minute but her shot was saved. The Seahawks held a six to three edge on shots during the period.
Taylor Christian and Johanna Engberg both had scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes of the second period but their shots were pushed away. The Red Hawks had their first opportunity on frame in the 75th minute but Matilda Hjalte came up big in goal. The Seahawks defense held strong during the last 15 minutes of the game to preserve their 1-0 shutout.
Lindstorm and Vaughan each had three shots apiece helping Northwood hold an 11-10 edge on shots for the contest. Hjalte made two saves in goal to keep the clean sheet.
The Seahawks have now shutout every team they have played during the 2014 NAIA National Tournament.
