Women's Basketball Second Half Rally Comes up Short Falling 76-73

WEST PALM BEACH, FL.---The Northwood women's basketball team came up short on Saturday afternoon to Great Falls by a final of 76-73. The Seahawks fall to 2-6 overall on the season with the loss.

The Argos took a 50-31 lead into the halftime break when Northwood came out strong. The Seahawks outscored their opponents 42-26 during the second half.

The Seahawks used a 9-0 run that was started by Stephanie Granada with four straight points and capped off by two free throws from Chanel Brooks getting the margin to single digits at 58-49. Midway through the half, a Lakeisha Blanson three sparked an 11-0 run giving Northwood their first lead of the game at 69-68 with 6:51 remaining in the contest.

Great Falls answered by retaking the lead at 72-69 with 6:08 on the clock. During the next two minutes, the Seahawks got to within two points bringing the score to 72-70 with 4:29 remaining. Dana Gildea hit a three pointer with six seconds remaining, for a one point deficit at 74-73. The Argos connected on two free throws setting up a Gildea three point shot at the buzzer that came up short, falling 76-73.

Granada led five players in double figures with 21 points and seven rebounds. Brooks had a double- double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Emily May had 11 points, and Gildea and Blanson both had ten points.

The Seahawks return to action on Monday, December 29th at 2:00 p.m. when they take on Cornerstone University. The tipoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.
