Tortola, BVI---The Northwood University men's basketball team wrapped up their trip to Tortola on Saturday evening with a 75-65 victory over Montreat College. The Seahawks won their contest the night before by forfeit improving their record to 3-0 on the season.

The Cavaliers controlled the first ten minutes of the half, before the Seahawks outscored them 19-8 over the next seven minutes, tying the game at 32-32. Northwood would close out the half on a 4-0 run for a 36-32 advantage heading into the break.

In the second half, Montreat got to as close as 47-46 with 12:15 to go, but the Seahawks used a 9-0 push extending their lead out to 56-46 with 8:43 remaining in the contest.  Northwood went on to take their largest lead of the game at 65-51 with 4:45 showing on the clock. Down the stretch, the Seahawks held off their opponent for the 75-65 victory.

Northwood held a 34-32 edge on the glass, while creating 19 assists. The Seahawks defense forced Montreat into 23 turnovers and turned those into 18 points.

Three players reached double digits with Fred Mattison leading the way with a game high 20 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Malte Ziegenhagen had 13 points while Chris Solomon chipped in 12 points. Ian Umpierre had a game high six assists and four steals.

The Seahawks return to the court on Saturday, December 6 when travel to Johnson & Wales for their Sun Conference opener. The tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
