WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The 14th ranked Northwood University (Fla.) women's soccer team won their ninth straight game as they cruised past Southeastern(Fla.) 4-1 on Thursday.
The Lady Seahawks are unbeaten in their last 12 contests and have won 45 consecutive conference games dating back to October of 2009.
The Lady Seahawks are 11-4-2 overall and 8-0 in the Sun Conference.
Amy Vaughan had a goal and two assists to lead the Seahawks offense.
Vaughan opened the scoring off a crossing pass by Louise Andersson to give the Seahawks a 1-0 advantage nearly nine minutes into the contest.
Johanna Engberg scored nearly 35 minutes into the first half with an assist by Vaughan to extend the lead to 2-0.
In just less than two minutes after Engberg's goal, Hanna Lindstrom found the back on the net on an assist by Linnea Lindmark.
The Lady Seahawks had a 3-0 lead at halftime and Julia Axengren added a goal nearly 20 minutes into the second half to make it 4-0.
Southeastern(Fla.) scored a penalty kick goal with just over a minute in regulation to avoid the shutout.
The Lady Seahawks had 17 shots and seven shots on goal while the Fire registered just four shots and four shots on goal.
The Lady Seahawks will return to the field and host Ave Maria in the regular season finale in a Sun Conference game on Saturday, October 25 at 3 p.m.
