James Rogers

James Rogers is in his seventh season as the Head Coach of the Keiser University Volleyball team. Rogers led the program to their first-ever NAIA National Tournament in 2020. He has also guided Keiser to the first Sun Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships in program history.

2023
  • Guided Keiser volleyball to another 30+ win season
  • Four Seahawks were named to the All-SUN team
  • Brooklynn Slater was Sun Conference Player of the Year, AVCA Southeast Region Player of the Year, and NAIA All-American
  • Slater set a Keiser record for kills in a season, (639) and Erika Magin set a school record for digs in a season (604)
  • Three Seahawks were NAIA Scholar Athletes
  • Abygale Lester and Sydney Wattles were named CSC Academic All-District
  • Set school season records for digs, (2255) and service aces (307)
  • Took the Seahawks to the Sun Conference Tournament for the fourth straight season
2022
  • Piloted KU to its third straight Sun Conference Tournament appearance
  • Coached two First Team All-Conference choices, Cameron Estep and Hannah Heide
  • The Seahawks won 32 matches, and set program single season records for kills, (2024) digs, and assists (1912)
  • Three players finished with 314+ kills
  • Helped Erika Magin set a program record for service aces (81) in a season
  • Advanced to the Sun Conference Tournament championship game
  • Off the court, Cassie Cox and Hannah Heide were named to the CSC Academic All-District team
  • Heide was honored after the season as the AVCA Southeast Region Setter of the Year
2021
  • Steered Keiser to another appearance in the Sun Conference Tournament
  • Collected his 100th win as Keiser's head coach
  • Coached two First Team All Sun Conference Selections, Cassie Cox and Brooke VandeHei
  • Helped three players finish with 300+ kills on the year
  • Off the court, six players were named to the Academic All-Conference Team
2020*
  • Led Keiser to their first-ever NAIA National Tournament
  • Notched the programs first National Tournament win over Mobile, 3-0, advancing to the NAIA Final Site
  • Guided the Seahawks to their first-ever Sun Conference Tournament Championship
  • Garnered Sun Conference Coach of the Year honors for a second straight time
  • Led KU to their second straight Regular Season Championship
  • Aided in the programs first undefeated Regular Season, 35-0
  • Coached the Sun Conference Player of the Year (Abbie Seward) for a third straight year
  • Brought in a program-best two NAIA All-Americans including a Second Team member
  • Yielded a conference-best six All-Conference players with four on the First Team
  • Off the court, seven players were named to the Academic All-Conference team
  • Coached the Seahawks to their first-ever NAIA National ranking

2019
  • Led Keiser to a 29-10 overall record and 13-3 mark in Sun Conference matches
  • The 29 wins were the most in program history
  • Aided in the Seahawks winning their first-ever Sun Conference Regular Season Championship
  • Named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year
  • Coached the Sun Conference Player of the Year (Abbie Seward) and Setter of the Year (Brooklyn VandeHei)
  • Helped with four players being named First Team All-Conference and two on the Second Team
  • Keiser went on a program-best 17 match winning streak
  • VandeHei led the country in assists (1492) and Seward finished second in total kills (563)
  • Off the court, seven players were named to the Academic All-Conference team and three garnered NAIA Scholar Athlete honors
2018
  • Guided the Seahawks to an 18-16 overall record and 6-10 mark in Sun Conference matches
  • Coached the programs first-ever Sun Conference Player of the Year, Abbie Seward
  • Aided in Seward being named First Team All-Conference
  • Seward led the NAIA in kills per match (5.13) and total kills (615)
  • Off the court, two players were named to the Academic All-Conference team and one earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors

Pre-Keiser
Prior to coming to Keiser, Rogers spent a season as the head coach at Southeastern Community College. He also coached at NCAA Division II Salem International for three years, two of which were as the head coach. In his lone season at Southeastern, Rogers helped the Blackhawks to their best finish in program history. In his career, he has coached four All-Region players, one Freshman of the Year, and had a player named to the All-Freshman team. Off the court, he has had nine players earn Academic honors.
 
Playing Career
Rogers played sand volleyball for the Houston Volleyball Academy in 2004 and in 2005-06, he led Gulf Coast Volleyball to a pair of national tournament appearances.
 
Personal
Rogers earned his Bachelor degree in Kinesiology from Tarleton State in 2010. He is currently working on a Master's degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in sports pedagogy. He and his wife Whitney reside in West Palm Beach.
