Bergren comes to Keiser following a six-year stint as assistant coach for the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. While with the Wildcats, IWU won back-to-back NAIA National Championships (2023 & 2024), claimed four Crossroad League regular season and tournament titles, advanced to the NAIA Sweet 16 in 2020 and the NAIA Elite 8 in 2019.

During his time with the Wildcats, Bergren developed 10 NAIA All-Americans and 22 all-conference players. He was named the 2024 AVCA NAIA Assistant Coach of the Year and was a two-time AVCA Mid-Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year (2020 & 2024). During his six seasons with IWU, the Wildcats posted a record of 179-27.

Bergren also worked with the Munciana Volleyball Club (2009-2025). He served as assistant coach from 2009-2017 and was named head coach in 2017. As head coach, Munciana was the National Runners-Up in the 18-Under Premier Division (2018, 2019, 2023), appearing in the 18-Under National Final Four five times (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024). He developed 13 AAU All-Americans. As an assistant, he won the 18-Under National Championship in 2017 as the volleyball club produced 12 AAU All-Americans from 2009-2017.
Personal
Bergren received his Bachelor of Science degree in integrative studies at Southern New Hampshire University. He and his wife Shelly have two daughters, Morgan and Madison. Morgan played volleyball and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Madison played volleyball at the University of Chattanooga.
