Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor took over the reins of the Keiser Volleyball squad prior to the 2012 season. Taylor most recently guided Keiser to a 21-8 finish in addition to an appearance in the TSC Tournament semifinals.
 
Taylor’s Tale
  • 67-79 in five seasons as head coach at Keiser, including 23-40 in conference play
  • Coached 10 TSC All-Conference members, including two first team honorees in Megan Minke (’15) and Nicole Papineau (’16)
  • Coached one TSC Newcomer of the Year in Megan Minke in 2015
  • Set the program record for overall wins (22) in 2015 and conference wins (8) in 2016
 
2016
  • Guided Keiser to a 21-win season, including a program-record eight conference wins
  • Led Keiser to its best start in program history, including claiming a 3-0 win over No. 21 St. Thomas on Sept. 14
  • Coached four TSC All-Conference winners, including one First Team All-Conference member in Nicole Papineau
  • The Seahawks ranked 5th in the NAIA in service aces per game with 2.34, while also ranking 13th in hitting percentage with .244
  • Keiser recorded the third most kills in a single season with 1,189 in addition to third most assists in a single season with 1,094
  • Under Taylor’s tutelage, Keiser recorded 227 service aces and registered a .244 hitting percentage, both of which rank second in program history
 
2015
  • Led Keiser to a program-record 22 overall wins, finishing 7-5 in conference action
  • Coached four TSC All-Conference winners, in addition to coaching Megan Minke to the 2015 Newcomer of the Year
  • Keiser ranked 6th in NAIA in service aces per game (2.17) and 10th in total service aces (252)
  • The Seahawks’ 252 service aces rank as the most service aces in a single season in program history
  • Keiser collected 1,253 assists which ranks first in program history, in addition to smashing 1,353 kills to rank second in program history
 
2014
  • Finished the season with an 11-20 overall record, winning five conference games on the season
  • Led Sydney Fish and Nikki McKown to be named TSC All-Conference winners
  • The Seahawks finished with 1,069 kills and 981 assists to rank fourth most in program history

2013
  • Led Keiser to an 8-24 overall record, finishing 1-9 in conference action
  • Tallied 984 kills, 915 assists, 143.5 blocks and 184 service aces
 
2012
  • Finished 5-16 in his first season, including 2-10 in Sun Conference action
  • Registered 504 kills, 428 assists, 55 blocks and 77 service aces
 
Pre-Keiser
Prior to his arrival at Keiser, Taylor spent time serving as the Head Men and Women’s Volleyball Coach at Newbury College in Brookline, Mass. His men’s squad won the 2011 NECC and ECAC North Region championships, while the women’s team advanced to the NECC tournament semi-finals in his first season, then made it to the NECC finals during his second year. Taylor also served as an Assistant Coach at McNeese State, Western Carolina University, Manchester College, and Washington College. He also was a Graduate Assistant Volleyball Coach at University of Louisiana-Monroe
 
Playing Career
Taylor was a member of the Western Michigan University Men’s Volleyball Club team. Taylor played as a setter and right side hitter, and was designated floor captain during his senior year.
 
Personal
Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Western Michigan before earning his master’s degree in education at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Taylor also works with USAV High Performance as a head coach of the 2016 Girls Future Select and 2015 Girls Future Select. Taylor also has numerous years of experience working with Junior Olympic Clubs.
