  • Ortiz enters his fifth season as a member of the Keiser staff
  • Serves as the Wide Receivers Coach, Pass Game Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator – third season
  • He served two years as an assistant, starting as the defensive line coach in year one before moving to wide receivers coach (2018-2019)

  • In 2023, the Seahawks produced 193 receptions (third-most in school history) with 2,477 yards receiving (No. 3 all-time at Keiser)
  • The Seahawks made their first NAIA playoff appearance in 2019, falling to No. 10 University of Cumberlands (Ky.)

  • Helped Victor Alvarez, Jr., garner All-America Honorable Mention recognition in 2018

Before Returning to Keiser
Ortiz returned to Keiser after stints at Florida Atlantic, the University of Hawai'i  and the University of West Florida. During the 2020 season, Ortiz worked at FAU as a defensive analyst working with Jim Leavitt as the Owl made an appearance in the Montgomery Bowl. The following season, Ortiz was an offensive analyst (wide receivers) at Hawai'i, as the Rainbow Warriors appeared in the Hawai'i Bowl. In 2022, Ortiz served as the running backs coach at the University of West Florida. During his time with Argonauts, Ortiz was named D2 Coach of the Rise by Our Coaching Network as West Florida won the 2022 Gulf South Conference and advanced to the National Semifinals. Ortiz coached two all-conference running back as Shomari Mason (first team) averaged 7.9 yards per carry and Ra'veion Hargrove (second team) averaged 8.3 yards per attempt.      

Pre-Keiser
Prior to Keiser, Ortiz spent time with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Florida Tech, University of Houston, and University of Miami. At UM, Ortiz served as a Player Personnel Assistant with Coach Manny Diaz, helping recruit the 13th ranked class in the country and was part of the Russell Athletic Bowl win.

In his time with Houston, he was a Defensive Intern and worked with Player Personnel. With Florida Tech, Ortiz worked with former Defensive Coordinator, Dan Owen and was in charge of the Outside Linebackers.

Personal
Ortiz was a Student Assistant working on defense at McNeese State during his undergrad years. His primary role was with linebackers and Coach Lance Guidry. Ortiz helped the squad to a 10-0 record and a Southland Conference Championship. The team set the scoring margin record for FCS to FBS with their 53-21 victory over USF.
