Pre-Keiser
Prior to arriving at Keiser, Housey worked as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Oregon, underneath Head Coach George Horton. He has additionally worked with over 100 players as a private pitching instructor.
Playing Career
Housey played for the Cincinnati Reds from 2012 to 2014, posting a 3.83 career ERA, averaging more than one strikeout per inning. His career with the Reds ended in High-A as a member of the Bakersfield Blaze in California. Housey went on to play a final professional season in Canada as a reliever for the Quebec Capitales.
Prior to his professional playing career, Housey pitched for the University of Oregon, posting an impressive 7-2 record and 2.04 career ERA. His 58 career appearances are tied for third all-time at Oregon, as does his career opponent batting average of .223. Housey was selected to the 2012 Pac-12 All-Academic First Team.
Personal
Housey graduated from Oregon with a Bachelor’s in Economics and later returned for a Master’s in Prevention Science. Housey’s father, Joe Housey, has been part of Major League Baseball for over 30 years as a player, coach, and scout; he currently scouts for the Colorado Rockies. Joey’s older brother, John Housey, pitched at the University of Miami and later went on to play for the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations.
