WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Keiser University Head Men's Soccer Coach
Gavin Oldham has announced the addition of Joe Barber to the Seahawks coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Barber arrives at Keiser with an impressive coaching resume spanning the NCAA and NAIA ranks, bringing experience as a head coach, recruiter, and program builder.
Most recently, Barber served as head coach at Georgia Southwestern State University, where he led the Hurricanes through a successful 2025 campaign. During the spring season, Georgia Southwestern posted a perfect 5-0 record, highlighted by a 2-0 road victory over Mercer University. In the fall, Barber guided the program to a fifth-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference while recruiting the school's first-ever Peach Belt Conference Golden Ball winner, Cesar Rubio-Amaya. He also helped Georgia Southwestern place two players on the All-Peach Belt Conference First Team for the first time in program history.
Before taking over at Georgia Southwestern, Barber spent two seasons as associate head coach at Gardner-Webb University. During the 2024 season, the Runnin' Bulldogs captured the first Big South Conference Championship in program history and finished second in the conference standings. Gardner-Webb compiled a 13-4-3 overall record, remained unbeaten at home during the regular season, and earned notable victories over Wake Forest, No. 11 High Point, UAB, and Coastal Carolina. The Bulldogs also advanced to the NCAA Tournament, earning a first-round victory over Oregon State.
Barber also served as head coach at Milligan University in 2022, leading the Buffaloes to a 10-3-7 record, an Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, and an appearance in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. For his efforts, Barber was named the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Throughout his coaching career, Barber has established himself as a strong recruiter and developer of talent, helping student-athletes earn individual accolades while contributing to championship-caliber teams.
"Joe brings a tremendous amount of experience and success to our program," said Oldham. "His track record of developing players, recruiting high-level talent, and helping teams compete for championships made him a natural fit for our staff. We are excited to welcome him to Keiser and look forward to the impact he will have on our student-athletes and program."
Barber joins a Keiser men's soccer program that continues to compete among the nation's elite and will help the Seahawks pursue conference and national championship aspirations in the seasons ahead.
