WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. The Keiser University softball team continued their run through the NAIA Opening Rounds with a 2-1 victory over No. 17 University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday afternoon in Williamsburg, Kentucky, improving to 46-8 on the season and advancing to the next round of the national tournament. Jordan Brantley delivered the decisive blow, launching a two-run home run to center field in the second inning to score Sarah Phipps, who had doubled down the left field line with one out in the frame, giving Keiser all the runs they would need. Mackenzie Masternak was dominant through six innings before Maggie Miller closed out a tense seventh, stranding two Cumberlands runners to preserve the one-run victory and send the Seahawks to the next round.
Keiser's offense was quiet until the second inning when Phipps doubled down the left field line with one out. Olivia Shoemaker struck out for the second out, but Brantley stepped in and sent a 3-2 pitch over the center field fence for a two-run home run that put Keiser ahead 2-0. That would prove to be all the offense Masternak needed. Cumberlands answered in the third when Aniyah White singled up the middle, moved to second on a Maleah Clinton single, advanced to third on a Grace Ross fielder's choice, and scored on an Emily Delgado RBI single to shortstop to make it 2-1. Masternak worked out of further trouble, retiring the next batter to strand two and limit the damage to one run. Keiser threatened in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings without scoring, leaving runners stranded in each frame as Cumberlands reliever Jessica Cord settled in and held the Seahawks in check. The seventh inning provided the most drama, as Masternak allowed a leadoff single to Kristen Smith, who was replaced by pinch runner K. Castaneda. Miller entered and allowed a Jae Jae Phillips single to left to put runners on first and second with no outs, but retired Aniyah White on a flyout to center, struck out pinch hitter Emily Cole, and got Grace Ross to fly out to center to end the threat and secure the 2-1 victory.

- Keiser committed zero errors on the day in a clean defensive performance. The Seahawks turned a key play in the third inning when Genesis Iglesias fielded a grounder and threw to Kaci Kidd at second to retire a Cumberlands runner and keep the inning from becoming more damaging.
- Masternak held Cumberlands scoreless in five of her six innings, retiring the side in order in the second, fifth, and sixth frames on 64 total pitches, continuing one of the most efficient stretches of her season with no walks issued across the complete outing.
