In the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Semifinals, the No. 2-ranked Keiser Seahawks defeated the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots with a commanding 19-9 victory at Lupo Family Field on Saturday. The Seahawks improved their record to 11-0, dominating faceoffs by winning 24 out of 30.
The Seahawks peppered the Patriots, out-shooting UC , 62-25, and gained control of the game early in the second quarter.
The game opened with the Seahawks establishing an early presence through a successful faceoff win. Despite multiple attempts on the goal, the Seahawks managed to tie the game at 1-1 when Kegan Hufford scored with an assist from Braeden Niemy. Badik then netted a goal, bringing the Seahawks level at 2-2. The Patriots edged ahead, concluding the quarter with a 3-2 advantage over the Seahawks.
In the second quarter, the Seahawks capitalized on a man-up opportunity with Marek Albiero scoring, assisted by Ryan Rundle. They maintained momentum as Badik and Niemy added to the lead. Despite a goal from the Patriots, the Seahawks' offensive efficiency was evident with multiple goals, ending the quarter leading 11-6.
The Seahawks took control early in the third quarter, with Rundle scoring on an assist from Davis. Rayburn consistently won faceoffs, maintaining possession and setting up further scoring opportunities. The quarter ended with the Seahawks leading 15-9.
In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks pulled away from the Patriots with a commanding performance. Rundle opened the scoring, and the Seahawks continued to dominate possession. The game concluded with the Seahawks defeating the Patriots with a final score of 19-9.
