No. 3-ranked Keiser delivered a dominant, well-rounded performance on both sides of the ball, defeating No. 10 St. Thomas, 32-6, in the Sun Conference Semifinals on Friday to punch their ticket to the championship game.
Keiser's offense was sharp and efficient, racking up 346 total yards (300 passing, 46 rushing) while converting 9-of-12 third downs and going a perfect 3-for-3 on fourth down. Quarterback Ava Wallace led the charge, completing 28-of-42 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 12 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Adrienne Rivera added a versatile effort, going 2-for-2 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown, while also contributing as a receiver and rusher.
Defensively, the Seahawks set the tone and never let up. Keiser totaled three interceptions as a unit, completely disrupting the Bobcats' passing attack. Madison Coger led the way with two interceptions, while Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Year Dakota Moberg grabbed her seventh interception of the season. Moberg also led the team, along with Hannah Jayes, in flag pulls (8). Keiser also added two sacks and consistently pressured the quarterback, forcing hurried throws and limiting St. Thomas to just 199 total yards (183 passing, 16 rushing).
St. Thomas was led by Sherice Newton, who completed 26-of-34 passes for 178 yards and one touchdown, but the three interceptions proved costly. Cydnee Brooks accounted for the Bobcats' lone score on a touchdown reception.
After allowing a late first-half touchdown, Keiser's defense shut the door over the final two quarters, pitching a second-half shutout while continuing to create turnovers and control field position.
