Space Coast Spring Games | Viera, Fla.

VIERA, Fla. – The Keiser University softball team swept another doubleheader Saturday at the Space Coast Spring Games, cruising past Mount Marty University 10-0 in five innings before holding off Lawrence Tech 5-4 in a tighter nightcap to push their record to 18-2 on the season.

The opener was over quickly. Keiser plated runs in all four regulation innings before the run rule ended it in five, getting contributions from up and down the lineup. Sarah Phipps provided the big blow of the game, launching a two-run home run to pace the Seahawks' offense. Olivia Shoemaker also made her presence felt off the bench, delivering a two-RBI double to extend the lead in a five-run third inning that put the game out of reach for good. Mackenzie Masternak was dominant in the circle, working four shutout innings and allowing just two hits before Olivia Solerno came on to close it out, with Masternak improving to 9-1 on the season.

The nightcap was a battle. Lawrence Tech struck first, plating two runs in the top of the first inning, but Keiser answered right back with two of their own in the bottom half to even the score. The Bulldogs then retook the lead with two more in the top of the third, but the Seahawks responded in a big way, scoring three in the bottom of the third to go ahead 5-4 and never looked back. Lawrence Tech kept the pressure on throughout but could not find the tying run as Keiser held on for the 5-4 victory. Genesis Iglesias was the offensive star of the nightcap, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead the Seahawks. Faith Campos added two hits and scored twice, and Ava Stahl drew two walks, drove in a run, and swiped two bases to create havoc on the bases all afternoon. Presley Wright started in the circle before Masternak came on from the fourth inning, allowing just two hits over four innings to slam the door and preserve the win.

  • Mackenzie Masternak threw four shutout innings in Game One to improve to 9-1, then came on in relief in Game Two from the fourth inning on and held Lawrence Tech to just two hits over four frames to help secure the win.
  • Genesis Iglesias was the offensive catalyst of Game Two, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and a stolen base. She sits at a .327 batting average with 21 RBI and four home runs through 19 games on the season.
  • Faith Campos went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Game Two and added a stolen base, pushing her season stolen base total to 16 and continuing to be one of the most dangerous leadoff threats in the lineup.
  • Ava Stahl drew two walks, drove in a run, and stole two bases in Game Two without collecting a hit, pushing her season stolen base total to seven and showcasing her ability to impact the game without getting a hit.
  • Keiser stole four bases in Game Two and two in Game One, giving the Seahawks six total stolen bases on the day and continuing a season-long trend of aggressive baserunning.

  • Trinity Rohrer contributed an RBI double in Game Two and Hollie Pabst added an RBI despite going hitless, with Keiser finding production from multiple spots in the order throughout the nightcap.
  • Keiser combined for 15 runs and 20 hits across the two games on Saturday, with the pitching staff allowing zero earned runs in Game One and four in Game Two for a strong overall showing on the mound.
