Space Coast Spring Games | Viera, Fla.
VIERA, Fla. – The Keiser University softball team swept a doubleheader Thursday in Viera, Fla., edging the University of Saint Francis in eight innings 11-9 before cruising past Grace College 9-3 in the nightcap to improve to 16-2 on the season.
The opener was a grinder that needed extra innings to settle. Keiser scored four runs in the third inning to jump out in front, with Genesis Iglesias delivering a two-RBI double and Kaci Kidd adding an RBI single to fuel the rally. The Seahawks added two more in the sixth on RBI singles from Trinity Rohrer and Jordan Brantley to take a 6-3 lead heading into the later innings, but Saint Francis clawed back to tie the game at six through seven, setting the stage for extras. In the top of the eighth, Keiser broke it open with five runs, highlighted by a two-run double from Kaci Kidd that scored Sarah Phipps and Hollie Pabst, followed by RBI singles from Faith Campos and Genesis Iglesias to push the lead to 11-6. Saint Francis answered with a three-run home run from Paiton Iliff in the bottom half, but it was not enough as Mackenzie Masternak finished what she started, going all eight innings to earn the win and improve to 8-1 on the season.
The nightcap was far more comfortable. Keiser grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first before blowing the game open with a big second inning, sending multiple runners across to take a 4-1 advantage into the third and never looking back. Genesis Iglesias hit a home run and drove in two runs, while Kaci Kidd went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Faith Campos and Sarah Phipps each added an RBI to round out the offense. Olivia Solerno was sharp in the circle, working four innings and allowing just one earned run to earn the win and improve to 2-0, with Maggie Miller coming on in relief to record a save and close out the 9-3 victory.

- Keiser scored 20 runs on 23 hits across the two games, continuing to establish themselves as one of the most prolific offenses in NAIA softball.
- Mackenzie Masternak went the full eight innings in Game One to improve to 8-1 on the season, allowing six earned runs on six hits while surrendering three home runs — all solo or multi-run blasts — yet still finding a way to give her team a chance in extras.
- Faith Campos went 4-for-5 in the opener — the best individual hitting performance of the day — and added two stolen bases to bring her season total to 15, which leads the team by a wide margin.
- Kaci Kidd was the hero of the Game One extra inning, delivering the go-ahead two-run double in the top of the eighth with two outs to break the 6-6 tie and swing the game in Keiser's favor for good. She finished the day 4-for-9 with four RBI across both games.
- Genesis Iglesias had a strong doubleheader, going a combined 4-for-7 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs scored. Her home run in Game Two pushed her season total to four and her RBI count to 17 on the year.
- Keiser did not commit a single error in Game Two after making three in Game One, finishing the day with a cleaner defensive performance as the afternoon wore on.
- Olivia Solerno was efficient in the Game Two circle, throwing four innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out two on only 65 pitches to improve to 2-0 on the season.
- Maggie Miller recorded her second save of the season in the nightcap, working the final three innings and striking out three batters to close out the 9-3 victory.
- Sarah Phipps went 2-for-8 on the day with two RBI and now sits at a .400 batting average on the season with nine RBI through 17 games.
- Keiser stole six bases across the two games, continuing a season-long trend of aggressive baserunning that has given opponents fits all year.
- The Seahawks scored in three different innings of seven or fewer to win Game Two — the first, second, and fifth — with the big three-run second inning proving to be the decisive stretch of the nightcap.
- Keiser now stands at 15-2 on the season after the sweep, with the pitching staff combining to allow just four earned runs across the two games when accounting for both starters and relievers.
Keiser will continue their Space Coast Spring Games slate Saturday with a doubleheader, taking on Mount Marty University at 11:15 a.m. before turning around to face Lawrence Tech at 1:30 p.m.
