No. 1 Keiser women's tennis moved to 11-1 on the season and 3-1 in Sun Conference play Friday, rolling past No. 25 Coastal Georgia 5-0 at the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex in Brunswick, Ga. The Seahawks seized the doubles point behind a pair of convincing wins and never looked back in singles, with court three clinching the match. In a testament to just how thoroughly Keiser controlled the afternoon, courts five and six came within a handful of points of finishing, which would have made all seven courts complete in a match clinched at four, a near-unheard-of occurrence at any level of collegiate tennis.
- No. 2 Violet Apisah and Patricia Apisah got Keiser on the board first on court one, knocking off Karlie Scott Kersey and Gabriela Rodrigues 6-2
- Alexandra Melnikova and Lena Couto clinched the doubles point for the Seahawks on court three, dispatching Manon Beudet and Freya Zayyan 6-1
- Ella Sahnis and Aline Aveiro were leading Luna Feillon and Gabriela Miteva 5-2, when play was stopped with the doubles point decided
- Sahnis opened singles with a dominant performance on court four, taking down Rodrigues 6-2, 6-0
- No. 1 V. Apisah kept the momentum rolling on court one, cruising past No. 43 Kersey 6-2, 6-2
- P. Apisah clinched the match for Keiser on court three, knocking off No. 66 Feillon 6-2, 6-0
- With the match already decided, No. 17 Alexandra Melnikova capped her dominant day on court two, completing a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Miteva
- On court five, No. 74 Couto led Felicia Elixmann 6-1, 5-0, and was up 40-0 in what could have been the final game
- Meanwhile on court six, Aveiro held a 6-1, 5-1 edge on Zayyan and led 30-0 in a potential final game
When asked about today's result, Head Coach
Daniel Finn had this to say: "I'm happy with the performance today. Girls took care of business."
On if he's ever seen a clinch match come that close to 7-0, "No I have to say that's definitely a first. I mean, bottom line, the girls came out focused on business, and they did a good job of sending it today. Now they can reload and do it again tomorrow."
The Seahawks will be back in action tomorrow morning against No. 7 SCAD in Savannah, Ga. First serve from the Bacon Tennis Center is set for 11:00 a.m.
