No. 6 Keiser women's lacrosse battled back from behind a few times but were not able to overcome the No. 1 Benedictine Ravens on the road on Saturday afternoon in Kansas.

Benedictine controlled the opening draw and wasted no time, scoring three goals in roughly 40 seconds of game clock to jump out to a 3-0 lead barely four minutes into the contest. The Seahawks called timeout to regroup, but a yellow card opened up a man-up opportunity and Lorelei Siegel converted to push the Ravens' lead to four. Kate Griffin won the ensuing draw and Tess Geiger pounced, burying a Baylee Walker assist to get the Seahawks on the board at 4-1. Following a save from Raelyn Boutwell, Keiser went on the break with Emily Ferris finding Isabelle Vrensen who fed ia Schweigert for a goal to pull Keiser within two as the first quarter came to a close.

The second quarter opened with Keiser applying pressure, but a pair of back-to-back failed clears by Benedictine's goalkeeper led to turnovers that the Seahawks couldn't fully capitalize on. Benedictine stretched it back to three and then four on a pair of free position goals before Keiser finally broke through with Schweigert scoring low at the 8:49 mark. Moments later, Vrensen beat her defender and scored before a top-shelf rocket from Geiger had the Seahawks within one at 6:09 remaining. After the Ravens restored a two-goal cushion on a man-up goal, Emily McCall turned a drawn foul into a free position goal with 46 seconds left, and then MacKenzie Gibaud converted another free position shot just 33 seconds later off a late foul on Benedictine to tie it at seven.

Keiser carried the momentum out of halftime and wasted no time taking the lead for the first time all afternoon. Gibaud found a cutting Vrensen who finished a shot to put the Seahawks on top 8-7. Benedictine leveled it quickly off a Moore draw win, and the game sat at 8-8 with 11:20 to play. Two consecutive fouls on the Seahawks gave Benedictine back-to-back free position chances, and the Ravens converted both to push back ahead 10-8. The Ravens poured it on with a couple more goals by Siegel to put their lead back up to 11-8. With two minutes left, Griffin found a weak spot in the defense and pulled one back off a Walker pass to make it 11-9 and keep the Seahawks within striking distance. However, Siegel answered immediately to close the third at 12-9 and put the deficit back at three.

Benedictine seized control of the draw and scored on their first possession to push it to 13-9 early in the fourth. Russell and Moore combined for the next four goals as the Ravens scored five unanswered to put the game away at 17-9 and force another Keiser timeout. With just under eight minutes left Gibaud converted a no-look shot to make it 17-10 and give the Seahawks their tenth goal of the afternoon. However, Benedictine responded with three more in the final seven minutes, capping the scoring at 20-10.

Keiser will head over to Canton, Mo. tomorrow for their next game against Culver Stockton. The opening draw control from is set for 11:00 a.m. CT
