AVE MARIA, Fla. – No. 22 Baseball swept a doubleheader with Ave Maria on Friday evening, taking game one 10-1 in seven innings before cruising to a 9-2 victory to sweep the afternoon. With the sweep, the Seahawks improved to 21-7 on the season and 5-2 in conference play.

In the opener, Austin Taylor was dominant from wire to wire, tossing a complete-game seven-inning shutout and allowing just one unearned run on three hits while striking out six to improve to 5-1 on the year. Keiser struck first when Maurice Maiquez walked to load the bases and Jeremy Garcia reached on a fielder's choice that scored Ty Martinez to make it 1-0. The Seahawks went quiet until the fourth, when Alex Getz led off with a solo home run to left field to push the lead to 2-0. Ave Maria answered with an unearned run in the bottom half when Jake LaVine reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on an error, then scored on a Joe Manesiotis RBI double to make it 2-1. Keiser blew the game open with a four-run fifth — Jake Olsen got it started with a solo shot to left, and after a pitching change brought in Christian Prull, Tad Brooks and Jeremy Garcia walked, followed by an Alex Getz hit by a pitch to load the bases before Avery Doezie cleared them with a three-run double to right field to push the advantage to 6-1. The Seahawks added three more in the sixth — Getz walked to load the bases yet again, Doezie walked to score Olsen, and Shaver reached on a two-base error by the second baseman that allowed Maurice Maiquez and Getz to score — to push it to 9-1. Keiser closed the scoring in the seventh when a wild pitch scored Olsen to make the final 10-1. Olsen and Getz each homered, while Doezie finished with four RBI.

The Seahawks came out swinging in game two and never looked back, cruising to a 9–2 win behind a strong pitching performance from the bullpen. Keiser got on the board first with a Maddox Shaver solo homer to left in the second to take a 1–0 lead, but Ave Maria answered in the bottom half when Ri'Shon Pearl singled and Jake LaVine reached on a Seahawks error, leading to a sacrifice fly that tied it at 1–1. The Seahawks reclaimed the lead in the fourth when Jeremy Garcia reached on an error by the Gyrenes, and Maddox Shaver plated the unearned Garcia run with a sacrifice fly to make it 2–1. Ave Maria knotted it back up at 2–2 in the bottom half when Daniel Williams—again running for LaVine—scored on a Michael Ciscar RBI single, a run charged to starter Sebastien Germano, who had just been replaced by Basytan Hernandez.

The game remained tight until the sixth, when Shaver broke the tie with his second home run of the night—a solo shot to left-center to put Keiser up 3–2. Avery Doezie singled home Tad Brooks to make it 4–2, Jaden Ross walked to score Hancock and make it 5–2, and Alex Getz walked to score the unearned Shaver run and make it 6–2. William Campo then came on in relief as Ty Martinez singled home Doezie, Jeremy Garcia was hit by a pitch to score Ross, and Tad Brooks capped the rally with an RBI single to score Getz.

Shaver was the story of the night, finishing with two home runs and three RBI. Starter Sebastien Germano went 3.1 innings before Basytan Hernandez bridged the gap with 2.1 solid frames, and Seth Broadwell closed it out by striking out six over the final 3.1 innings to earn the win.
