WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Keiser University softball team split a competitive Saturday doubleheader at Alumni Field, earning a come‑from‑behind 6–5 victory in the opener before falling 5–2 in the afternoon contest against Mount Mercy. The Seahawks moved to 9–1 on the season following the split.
Mount Mercy struck first with a four-run third inning, but Keiser responded with timely offense and a late surge to complete the comeback. Trailing 4–0 entering the fourth, Ava Stahl put Keiser on the board with an RBI double, sparking momentum that carried through the final innings. In the fifth, Genesis Iglesias delivered the Seahawk's biggest swing as she launched a two-run home run to left, cutting the deficit to one.
The Seahawks plated three more in the sixth, highlighted by an RBI double from Jordan Brantley, a run‑scoring single from Stahl, and an RBI knock from Kaci Kidd to give Keiser a 6–4 advantage. Mount Mercy scratched one across in the sixth, but Mackenzie Masternak closed her outing with a crucial shutdown frame before Maggie Miller tossed a perfect seventh to secure the save. Masternak finished with 6.0 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 4 K, while Miller induced three consecutive groundouts to preserve the victory.
Keiser again struck early, scoring in each of the first two innings. Faith Campos tripled and scored on an error in the first, and Sarah Phipps reached and later came home on another Mustang miscue in the second. However, Keiser's offense was limited to just four hits in the contest. Mount Mercy answered with a four‑run second inning, powered by a three‑run home run from K. Daugherty, and added a run in the fifth to extend the lead.
Despite two hits from Macy Schaaf and a strong defensive showing from the Seahawks, Keiser was unable to rally late. Presley Wright took the loss, while Maggie Miller again provided quality relief work with four clean innings and four strikeouts.
