In their second match of the season, No. 17 Keiser men's soccer battled back from a two-goal halftime deficit to earn a thrilling 3–2 victory over No. 19 Mid-America Christian at Arrigo Vecellio Field. The Evangels struck twice in the first half, with goals from Hayden Hoxie and Necsar Rojas putting the visitors ahead 2–0 at the break. Out of halftime, the Seahawks mounted their response as Raul Cedillo opened the scoring in the 47th minute. Just ten minutes later, Sergio Padín-Rey netted the equalizer before Cedillo struck again a minute later to give Keiser the lead. From there, the Seahawks controlled the tempo, holding MACU without a shot in the second half and securing their second straight win to open the year.

The Seahawks will have a couple days of rest before they hit the road on Thursday, September 11, traveling to Thomasville, Ga., to face Thomas University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

How it Happened
  • In the sixth minute, MACU took the lead as Carlos Lobo's free kick forced a save from Santiago Nebot, but Hayden Hoxie was first to the rebound and tucked it away for a 1–0 advantage.
  • The Evangels doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Federico Palacios swung in a corner that found Necsar Rojas, who finished to make it 2–0.
  • Keiser answered just after halftime. Tristan Silva connected with Mohammed Mouzoune, who slipped a pass across to Cedillo for a tap-in, cutting the deficit to 2–1.
  • MACU goalkeeper Dante Caffaro was forced to exit with an injury in the 53rd minute, bringing Natan Admassu into the match.
  • Five minutes later, the Seahawks capitalized. Off a free kick, Mouzoune's ball found Keanu Does, whose shot was blocked, but he kept possession and set up Padín-Rey at the top of the box.
  • Padín-Rey ripped home the equalizer to level the match at 2–2.
  • Just over a minute later, Fami Konate launched a ball forward to Cedillo, who combined quickly with Mouzoune before slotting home his second goal of the day to put the Seahawks in front, 3–2.
  • The Seahawks continued to dominate, shutting out the Evangels in the second half.
  • The Evangles' hopes for a comeback were dashed in the 65th minute when Henry Tolbert was sent off with a red card.
